The University Medical Center Brackenridge College Student Volunteer Program offers many ways for college students to make a difference by lending their skills and talents in more than 20 service areas of the hospital. In order to meet the service needs of the hospital, we have made the following changes:
- New student volunteers during the school year (Fall and Spring semesters) will be required to spend the first part of their first semester in the Gift Shop or at the Information Desk, and then rotate into other service areas of great need for the last part of the semester.
- New student volunteers during the summer semester will be required to fulfill their services at the information desk or in the gift shop for the entire semester.
Please be reminded that as a college student studying at the undergraduate level, you are required to volunteer with our College Student Volunteer Program and will not be accepted into the Adult Volunteer Program.
How to Become a Volunteer
To become a volunteer for the University Medical Center Brackenridge College Student Program, you must complete the New College Volunteer Application and submit the packet to: University Medical Center Brackenridge Volunteer Services, 601 East 15th Street, Austin, TX 78701.
In addition, you are required to submit proof of your immunizations: 2 measles/mumps, 1 rubella, and a current tuberculosis screening test (this expires every year). If it has been over a year since your last TB skin test, you will need to get 2 tests. You may complete your health requirements through our Occupational Health Department at no cost after the volunteer orientation; however we encourage you to complete this step beforehand through your university’s health center.
You may not begin to volunteer until this and all other parts of your application are COMPLETE.
