Once a prospective student and Supervisor are interested in working together in supervisory training, the student will meet a committee selected by the Center for the purpose of consultation for readiness for Supervisory CPE. The student’s competence is assessed through materials and conversation demonstrating pastoral competency as stated in Level II standard outcomes as well as the SCC Common Standards for Chaplains. That consultation is designed to assist the new SES and his/her training Supervisor to outline and focus on the student’s issues for learning. After the completion of the 1st or 2nd unit of supervisory education, a student is encouraged to apply for certification as a Supervisory Candidate with the Southwest Region Certification Committee (refer to the ACPE Certification Manual, revised January 2010, Supervisory Candidate Certification). If the certification committee finds that the student meets the requirements for candidacy, the student may begin the certification process and is eligible to supervise students under the supervision of an ACPE Supervisor.
