New Seton/RehabCare facility will treat patients with neurological injuries, complex medical and orthopedic conditions

(AUSTIN, Texas, April 20, 2011) - The Seton Family of Hospitals and RehabCare Group, Inc. broke ground on a new location for their joint venture rehabilitation hospital, known as Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital. The new inpatient facility is located at 700 West 45th St., within an area known as the Triangle, and is scheduled for completion in spring 2012.

The 59,000-square-foot facility will allow the hospital to expand from 20 beds to 50. The facility will feature the latest in rehabilitative technology, a therapy pool and specialized programs for patients with complex physical and cognitive needs in more than 6,000 square feet subdivided into three gyms.

"The new location is designed to help our superb rehabilitation team maximize the abilities of people with a wide range of injuries and illnesses," said Tom Gallagher, Seton senior vice president of Business Development. "With so many advances taking place in neurosciences, we see much hope for significantly improving patient quality of life for what were once devastating conditions."

The hospital will bolster rehabilitative services for patients suffering from stroke, brain injury, lower extremity amputation and spinal cord injury.

"The state-of-the-art facility will enhance our ability to meet the rehabilitation needs of a greater number of patients, including those with complex needs," said Ron Cronen, Triumph HealthCare regional vice president of operations, including the RehabCare Group hospital division.

At full occupancy, the hospital will employ about 115 medical, nursing, therapy and support staff. The all-private room hospital is expected to treat more than 1,200 patients each year.
