About the Undergraduate Internship
Description
The Undergraduate Internship Program at Seton Family of Hospitals is designed to provide an on-the-job opportunity to gain “real world” work experience in a career-related professional internship.
Structure
Undergraduate Interns will spend six weeks in a hospital or network office. The Intern will develop leadership and management skills through various projects from the manager/preceptor. In addition, the Intern may attend leadership and department meetings with the administrators of each hospital.
Objective
Seton Family of Hospitals objective is to provide a learning environment where undergraduates with two years of college education can develop the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful leaders and potential Seton associates.

Application Timeline
- Applications and resumes for the 2010 Summer program will be accepted until Friday April 23, 2010
- Letters of Recommendation and copies of college transcripts will be accepted until Friday, April 30, 2010
Intern Qualifications*
- Full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must have completed sophomore year to be eligible
- Student’s field of study should be aligned with intern position
- Student must apply and be accepted for interviews by the university and by Seton representatives.
* Two years of college education in a related field whose current education provides a level of competency that is necessary for completing pertinent tasks. Must be a student currently enrolled in an approved program of study that is related to the area in which the internship is to be completed. The school and educational program must have a Contract In Agreement with Seton and any of Seton's subsidiaries.
Roles and Responsibilities
Seton will provide

Intern will be responsible for
- Great work ethic

Essential Functions
- Provides on the job learning experience.
- Assists Manager or Director with projects, events and work relevant to specific departmental needs.
- Performs tasks/work assignments related to a course of study, educational curriculum, or career interest in an educational capacity.
- Manager/ mentor or internship preceptor who assigns tasks, gives regular feedback on progress and provides a final summary of the internship experience.
- Assumes staff support responsibility for the Manager/Director to include planning and implementation of projects, events or assuming specific tasks, assignments or functions.
- Demonstrates computer skills and proficiency in the utilization of standard software specific to departmental needs.
- Communicates and collaborates with assigned work team to provide back up coverage and support as needed.
- Promotes the values and philosophy of Seton Family of Hospitals.
