President for External Affairs, Academic Medicine and Research
Greg Hartman is responsible for communications, marketing and government affairs for the Seton network, as well as Seton’s growing enterprise in academic medicine and research. He has also served as the President and CEO for Seton’s Central Group, which included Seton Medical Center Austin, the University Medical Center Brackenridge and the Clinical Education Center at Brackenridge.
Greg has been heavily involved for several years in the efforts to create collaboration between Seton, The University of Texas at Austin, UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, the UT System and Central Health to bring translational medical research and academic medicine to Central Texas. His efforts along with many others helped bring to the community the new Dell Medical School at UT Austin and the new Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.
Greg serves on several area boards, including the Executive Committee of the Austin Chamber, the Austin Innovation Zone Task Force, the Community Care Collaboration and the Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital.
Before joining Seton, Greg worked around the nation as a consultant for public affairs, communications, marketing and strategic planning. He was a Managing Director for Public Strategies, Inc. an international strategy and communications firm, and served as a Senior Partner with MGT of America, a management consulting and research firm. He served as Executive Assistant and Director of Communications for former Texas State Comptroller John Sharp, and also worked for legislators in both the Texas Senate and House.
Additionally, for nearly two decades, he worked as a strategic consultant for several political campaigns, including campaigns for President, the U.S. Senate and numerous statewide campaigns.
