Clinical Research and College Student Volunteer Opportunities

Clinical Research Volunteer Program

Adult or student who wants to participate in a clinical research program, either at a Seton facility or off-site
Volunteer is processed through Dell Children’s Medical Center Volunteer Services Office.  Volunteer should complete the online clinical research volunteer application.  Volunteer may or may not have a specific research project identified at the time of application.

Programs for College Students

Job Shadowing

a single opportunity following one clinician for eight hours or less
A person must select a clinician and receive verbal approval from that clinician for the shadowing. Once a clinician has been identified the person who wants to shadow should email Academicadmin@seton.org and request a Non-Recurring Observer packet.

Observer

serves up to 40 hours in a year; may observe multiple clinicians during that time
A person must select a clinician or a sponsoring department (i.e., Epilepsy Programs) and receive verbal approval from that clinician or department for the observation. Once a clinician or department has been identified the person who wants to observe should email Academicadmin@seton.org and request a Non-Recurring Observer packet.

Intern

Student or trainee who works, without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience

  • Clinical – student attending a school that has an affiliation agreement with Seton goes through Sally Foster  (sfoster@seton.org).  If the student does not know if their school has an agreement, they should check with their school administrator or contact Sally.
  • Non-clinical or student from a non-affiliated school – student must identify a sponsor/department and receive verbal approval from that sponsor/department to accept that student. Volunteer Services Office processes as a volunteer.

PT/OT/ST

volunteer who is looking for an opportunity specifically in that department in order to earn hours required to apply for PT/OT/ST school
Volunteer Services Office contacts department to determine need/openings, then processes as a volunteer.
