Our Mission

At the Austin Dermatologic Surgery Center, our mission is to provide comprehensive, patient-focused service in dermatologic surgery and cutaneous oncology. This includes Mohs micrographic surgery, skin cancer excision and reconstruction, mole and cyst removal, nail avulsion, as well as the management of melanoma and other high-risk skin cancers. Our goal is to provide the most advanced and least invasive procedures possible.

Dr. Matthew Fox, a board-certified dermatologist, offers skin cancer treatments as the director of the Austin Dermatologic Surgery Center. His focus is on Mohs surgery and cutaneous oncology.

The Austin Dermatologic Center provides care and services that are based on National Guidelines for Cancer Care. In order to ensure compliance the Austin Dermatologic Center has reviewed Evidenced Based Guidelines for Melanoma to be sure the center is providing the best practice quality care for patients. Activity:  Monitoring Compliance for Evidenced Based Guidelines for Melanoma

Retrospective review of all patients seen in consultation at Austin Dermatologic Surgery Center with new diagnosis of melanoma from January 1 to September 25, 2018
Determination of stage according to both AJCC 7 and 8 criteria
Determination of concordance of treatment recommendation rendered in clinic versus most recent NCCN guidelines.

Results:

  • 70 patients seen in consultation at time of analysis:
    Stage 0: 34
    Stage IA: 27
    Stage IB: 5
    Stage IIA: 2
    Stage IIB: 1
    Stage IIC: 0
    Stage III: 0
    Stage IV: 1

ALL patients were found to have treatment recommendations concordant with NCCN guidelines at the time of diagnosis
