My Passion for Healthcare

I actually started out more interested in cancer research rather than patient care. While working on my Ph. D. in cancer drug development, I felt there was a broad gap between the lab and patient care. This led me to expand my education to include a medical degree. I have always had an interest in the treatment of cancer, but pediatric oncology was an area of intensive interest. The major research advances in the field and the organization of national and international research efforts were both reasons to pursue research and patient care in this specialty.
