My Passion for Healthcare

I had always known I wanted to be a doctor, but was drawn to the humanities in college, majoring in English. I was fortunate enough to attend medical school in Galveston, following in the footsteps of my grandfather, who graduated from the same institution in 1939. During my medical school training, I found myself drawn to psychiatry, in part because of my humanities background. My career choice was cemented the day my grandfather commented that anti-depressant medications had made as big a difference in his patients' lives as anything he'd ever prescribed.
