My Passion for Healthcare

About a decade ago, I spent five months in Angola working with a general surgeon. It was during this experience that my interest and commitment to women’s health began. I observed the difficult circumstances pregnant women and those with gynecologic issues encountered due to limited resources. But I also got to see how compassionate and quality care could help a woman regain her health, lifestyle, and dignity. This experience inspired me to become an Ob/Gyn. It is truly a privilege to care for women through all the different stages of life.

My Clinical Focus

I recently spent almost two years working in Zambia. My time there was an invaluable opportunity to participate in medical care in a diverse setting. I have seen how communities and cultures in different parts of the world meet challenges and try to reduce gaps in order to provide adequate healthcare. Learning how to do this at the community level is a critical area for physician engagement. I am committed to bold initiatives to improve maternal, child, and reproductive health. I plan to work diligently to find ways to implement them first within my community, and then globally.
