Provides Care Through

Seton Brain & Spine Institute Neurosurgery

My Passion for Healthcare

I grew up the son of a pathologist with an extended family in medical fields and knew I wanted to be a surgeon from a very early age. I was active in church and was heavily influenced by medical missionaries I knew leading to a desire for ministry through healing. I attended Baylor University where I received degrees in theology and psychology and was first exposed to neuroanatomy leading to my ultimate choice of neurosurgery. By joining Seton, I have found the ability to live out my ministry and purpose of helping heal people spiritually through healing them physically.

Services I Provide

  1. Lateral approach spine surgeries (XLIF)
  2. Cranitomy for brain tumors
  3. Spinal decompressive surgeries
  4. Shunts for hydrocephalus and pseudotumor
  5. Spinal fusions restoring alignment
  6. Chiari decompression
  7. Minimally invasive spine surgery

Degree & Residency

  • Medical School

Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX

  • Internship

University of Texas HSC San Antonio, San Antonio, TX

  • Residency

UT Health Science Center San Antonio, San Antonio, TX

  • Board Certification

    American Board of Neurosurgery

My Clinical Focus

My greatest focus is on helping people who are experiencing pain and suffering. This has led to an interest in spinal problems and spine surgery. I focus on providing surgical and non-surgical options for spine-related pain using a standard of trying to help with the "minimum necessary" intervention. This has led to a special interest in minimally invasive spine procedures. Additionally, I have a strong interest in cranial (brain) surgeries for tumors and hydrocephalus. Being part of a level II trauma center also allows me to help people with brain and spine trauma.
