Dr. Davis is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. After receiving his B.S. degree in Biology from Beloit College, he received a Masters degree from The University of North Dakota in Physiology. He earned his M.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1972, and completed a General Surgery internship at Bexar County Hospital in San Antonio. His Orthopaedic Surgery residency was completed at Bexar County Hospital as well. Dr. Davis served as Chief Resident, Bexar County Hospital from 1976-77.
His practice started in Austin in 1977 when he joined Dr. John Genung. He has served on multiple committees at Seton Medical Center, Bailey Square Surgery Center, Brackenridge Hospital, and was the first Chief of Staff at the Round Rock Community Hospital. Currently, Dr. Davis enjoys volunteering as the team physician for Saint Andrew's Episcopal School, and as the girls' golf team coach.
Dr. Davis has had special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee since the early 1980's, including anterior cruciate reconstruction, and meniscus repair or menisectomy. He has also been trained in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, which includes arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization procedures. A large part of his practice is in joint replacement surgery, including total knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and total hip replacement. Fracture care has been a steady part of his practice since 1977.
He practices at Seton Medical Center and Texas Orthopedic Surgery Center, and is on staff at most other local hospitals in the Austin area. His professional memberships include Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Alamo Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Travis County Medical Society.
Dr. Davis is married to Diane. They have three daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and is active in his church.
