Every nursing unit has one or two nurses who have a way of brightening everyone’s day. At Ascension Seton Smithville Regional Hospital, one of those nurses is Daisy Award winner, Nancy Absnaider, RN. Nancy works in the operating room at Ascension Seton Smithville and is known for her infectious smile and friendly greeting: “It’s going to be a good day!”
Over a nursing career that spans more than four decades, Nancy has worked in many areas of nursing, including labor and delivery and the emergency department. Nancy is now part of the surgery team at Ascension Seton Smithville and has worked at the hospital for the past eight years.
Nancy’s passion for nursing shines through in all aspects of her life. She is very passionate about the care and treatment of the disabled. Even after her beloved brother, who had Downs Syndrome, passed away, Nancy continues to visit the residence where her brother lived.
Nancy comes from a family of nurses. Her mother is a nurse and one of her daughters is also a nurse. She is the proud mother of three and a doting grandmother of two. When not caring for patients at Ascension Seton Smithville, Nancy can often be found at antique fairs, regardless of the distance or weather.
