Ascension Seton Health Plan, Inc., a subsidiary of Ascension Seton, will offer its Medicaid managed care products for STAR and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) under the name of Dell Children’s Health Plan, effective December 1, 2016. The new name aligns Seton’s insurance for children of low-income families with Central Texas’ most trusted name in pediatric care. At the same time, Amerigroup Texas will embark on a joint venture with Dell Children’s Health Plan, providing administrative support to manage each member’s care.
Ascension Seton Health Plan has participated in the STAR and CHIP Medicaid managed care programs since 2012 and 2000, respectively. STAR is the State of Texas’ Health and Human Services Commission’s (HHSC) no-cost Medicaid Managed Care Program. CHIP provides low-cost health coverage for children ages 0 through 18 in families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford to buy private health coverage.
“Amerigroup Texas brings a ‘whole person’ approach to health plan member services, which is vital to helping our plan members – many of whom are newcomers to health insurance – make the most of the support they need to maintain good health,” said Jesύs Garza, president of Ascension Seton and senior vice president for the Texas Ministry Market of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.
The name Dell Children’s Health Plan will make it easier for parents to choose insurance that provides benefits, such as a 24-hour nurse helpline, as well as behavioral health, dental and vision care. Amerigroup Texas specializes in improving health care access and quality, while working to reduce the overall cost of care.
“Amerigroup Texas’ top priority is its commitment to ensuring that Medicaid members have expanded access to high-quality service and integrated healthcare” said Tisch Scott, president of Amerigroup Texas. “We are proud to partner with Dell Children’s Health Plan, so that together, we can deliver on that promise and keep our local communities healthy through innovative partnership like this one.”
