Governor, First Lady Visit Dell Children’s

govpumpkinkidinwchaircloser1.400sizeTalk about an unexpected treat. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Cecilia Abbott, the First Lady of Texas, visited about a dozen patients and their families at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas during the day on Halloween.

They were hosted by Dr. Mark Shen, Dell Children’s president, and Edward Olmeda, Ascension Seton senior advocacy and external affairs project coordinator. Watch the video.

The governor and first lady made sure they talked with every child in the third floor playroom, where the kids had gathered to paint pumpkins for the holiday.

Parents, siblings and other patients’ loved ones also got opportunities to meet with Texas’ top state leader and his wife.

govwsign500sizeCecilia Abbott said she and husband, now “empty nesters,” miss celebrating Halloween with their now grown children and wanted to enjoy some time with some deserving kids. That led her office to work with the Governor’s staff to set up the Saturday visit.
