Pretty in Pink: Ascension Seton Shows Support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Drive past Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin on 38th Street and you’ll notice a bright new hue to the hospital just after dark. To kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to show support, the Ascension Seton is illuminating the building that will house the future Ascension Seton Breast Care center, coming in early 2014.

The lights are a symbol of the importance of breast health and Ascension Seton’s commitment to providing quality care to Central Texas women. The month-long illumination is the first of several activities planned to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ascension Seton will participate locally in a number of community events, fundraisers and outreach programs focused on breast health this October. See the attached calendar for a complete list of events.

As experts in integrated breast care, Ascension Seton is confident it will continue to provide the most complex care for patients medically, spiritually and emotionally. The new Ascension Seton Breast Care Center at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is set to open in early 2014, and will offer unique, person-centered care. Teleconferencing technology allows cancer care professionals working in different locations to collaborate on patient cases. Nurse navigators assist patients through treatment and are another component of care. Ascension Seton’s services also include a network of digital mammography screening locations and a mobile digital mammography unit, The Big Pink Bus.
