Information on low-cost heart screenings and health plans, dodging diabetes, quitting smoking, crisis management, the benefits of yoga and local exercise classes, medical care programs, home health care, hospice care and nursing home options – it all can be found at the Seton Good Health Fair in Smithville.
Admission is free. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the Smithville High School cafeteria, 285 Highway 95 South.
For parents, Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department, Smithville Police Department and Smithville Fire Department representatives will show you how to better keep your children safe.
For kids, there will be a full-size medical evacuation helicopter and a fire truck parked outside for them to explore. And inside, they can find out how well they wash their hands by placing them under a black light after (they think) they’ve scrubbed them well. They also can design and make get well cards for patients at Seton Smithville Regional Hospital and Towers Nursing Home in Smithville.
More than 40 local organizations are staffing information tables and exhibits and performing demonstrations.
The event is co-sponsored by Seton Healthcare Family, the Smithville Independent School District and the Smithville Chamber of Commerce.
