Seton Northwest Hospital is conveniently located right off of Research Boulevard in Northwest Austin. The Sports Medicine and Hand Therapy department is located on the first floor of Seton Northwest Health Plaza. Our current hours of operation are Monday -Thursday 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday. 7 a.m.-2 p.m., and Saturday 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m..
Free parking is conveniently located on the northwest side of the building. Volunteers roving the parking lot in golf carts are available to those needing assistance to the hospital entrance. To get to Sports Medicine from the north side of the parking lot: Enter the Seton Northwest complex through the main entrance. At the information desk turn right. Suite 190 is the last door on the right before you exit the building.
Patients can schedule initial appointments either in person or over the phone at 324-6070. Our helpful staff is available to assist you with your needs. For the initial appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early in order to fill out paper work, 20 to 30 minutes early if you have an extensive medical history. Bring your insurance card and a doctor’s prescription if it has not already been faxed. In addition, wear comfortable clothing for each appointment.
We do physical therapy and occupational therapy for orthopedic patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, specializing in sports injuries and post surgical populations. After the initial evaluation with a member of our skilled staff, you will receive one-one-one, hands-on care from a therapist.
Our therapists work on a number of athletic and sports injuries, including but not limited to arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgeries. We also deal with total hip and total knee patients. Our primary goal is to restore function and return you to your previous level of activity.
Our specialized Zuni Unloaded System is used to allow for walking and running on the treadmill for those patients who cannot tolerate full weight bearing activities. This system allows for speedier return to their previous level of function.
Manual Therapy Techniques
We pride ourselves on our manual therapy based skills/approach. Manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilizes and massage are used to restore normal movement to both joints and tissues.
Our Kincom System allows us to test and train joints and muscles at various speeds of movement isokinetically for strength, force and stability. It is often used to test an athlete’s ability to return to sports.
Seton Northwest Sports Medicine and Hand Therapy features state-of-the-art equipment including cardiovascular machines, pulleys, total gyms, Cybex equipment, therapy balls and foam rolls. For your convenience, we also offer lockers and changing rooms for patients to use following your appointment.
A certified hand therapist is available to meet all of your occupational therapy needs, whether it be from an injury or following surgery. We also offer ergonomic assessments of the workplace for the treatment and prevention of repetitive strain and stress injuries. In addition, patients can be fitted for custom hand splints. Splinting is one treatment option for painful joints affected by arthritis or repetitive strain, fractures and carpal tunnel syndrome.
