Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, March 2010
In January of 2010 I was a 35 year-old firefighter and weighed 350 pounds. I was depressed, out of shape and on the verge of losing my life to obesity. I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol and borderline diabetes. When I began to investigate weight-loss surgery I found Dr. Patrick Dillawn and was amazed at how easily I was able to schedule an appointment and get more information about the procedures.
In March of 2010 after my laparoscopic gastric bypass my new life began. This bariatric surgery procedure was a tool, but exercise was the key to my successful weight-loss. I began to walk 30 to 60 minutes a day and followed the diet recommended by Dr. Dillawn and his staff.
After six months, I was down to 200 pounds! My goal weight was 175 pounds and I was determined to get there, and by January of 2011 I did.
After I met my weight goal, I began to want more for my new active lifestyle so I challenged myself to run a half marathon. In January of 2012 I completed one in one hour, 52 minutes and 50 seconds. Words can’t begin to describe the new life I have now.
The key to my success was not just me, but Dr. Dillawn and his staff. I can’t begin to explain the attention to detail they gave me to have a successful outcome with my weight-loss surgery.
