Before your surgery, please read this guide carefully – follow all instructions and pre-surgery tips, and provide all requested information. If you have questions after reviewing this guide, please call the University Medical Center Brackenridge Surgery Department at (512) 324-7880. If you call Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and receive voice mail, leave your name and phone number, and you can expect a call within two hours. If you call after hours, we will call you the next morning.
Admissions Pre-Registration Form
Prior to your surgery, please complete the Admissions Pre-Registration Form (pdf) and fax it to (512) 380-7561. Provide your name as it appears on your birth certificate or your social security card. This process will decrease registration time when you come to the hospital.
All Brackenridge and SETON employees wear identification badges with photographs for your safety. Security is available to assist you with concerns such as theft, suspicious people or activities, escorts to your vehicle, jump-start assistance, or help you locate your vehicle in the parking garage. Brackenridge Security is available twenty-four hours per day at extension 5-5555 through any house phone or (512) 324-7295.
The Outpatient Pharmacy is available and can fill your prescriptions upon discharge from the hospital. We accept Medicaid, MAP, CHIP, Kidney Health Care, STAR and CIDC. If you pay for your prescription, our receipt is valid for processing your claim to your insurance company. The pharmacy is located on the lower level off the visitor elevator and is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and weekends and holidays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Reflection Chapel is located on the second floor near the public elevators and is interdenominational. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Chaplains are available for visitation, prayer, counseling, support and for Catholics, sacramental services. In addition, Chaplain Services can help you with advanced directives and power of attorney. You can reach them at 324-7480.
Interpreters are available upon request 24 hours daily to translate foreign languages for our patients. Accommodations for the hearing impaired are also available upon request. For assistance, please contact your nurse.

The Clinic at Brackenridge
The Clinic at Brackenridge, an outpatient department of University Medical Center at Brackenridge, provides specialty evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care to adults on an outpatient basis. Referrals come from the Austin/Travis county community health clinics and some other community agencies, labor and delivery, and the emergency department according to referral guidelines. The clinics are transitional in nature and after consultation the patient is sent back to the referring entity for primary care.
The clinics are staffed by physicians and resident physicians. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for major holidays. Patients are seen by appointment only and can be reached for an appointment at (512) 324-7300.
