Holiday Feasting – Light


It’s getting COLD. Well, it did for one day. So, we know the holidays are around the corner. There is a lot to do this time of year, and the stress levels build through the end of the year. It’s natural to relieve some stress by indulging on occasion. However, the “indulgences” add up. And, if they are happening daily, they are no longer indulgences – they are routine.

In order to avoid the extra weight the holidays usually add, just say, “NO, thanks.” It is not going to make a big difference to have a hearty (not-so-heart-healthy) meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. However, try to maintain healthy eating for the rest of the season. The candy, cookies, hot chocolate and breads add up over 6 weeks.

  • Keep eating lots of fruit and vegetables.
  • Bring your lunch.
  • Snack on fruit or nuts.
  • Eat something before you head out to the party or before you go shopping
  • Chew gum rather than eating candy while at work

Keep up the good work. If you fall off the wagon, just get back on. Enjoy the holiday season – and stay healthy for many more to come!
