Advanced Trauma Life Support

ATLS is a program that was developed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma with the aim to improve care provided to injured patients.This course approaches trauma care in an organized and systematic manner.  Focus is given to care provided during the “first hour”.  Initial assessment and primary management of the patient is emphasized, starting at the time of injury and continuing through initial assessment, intervention, reevaluation, stabilization and transfer to a trauma center for definitive care.
 
Course Objectives:
  • Assess the patient’s condition rapidly and accurately
  • Resuscitate and stabilize the patient according to priority
  • Determine whether the patient’s needs exceed a facilities resources and capabilities
  • Arrange for the appropriate interhospital transfer for definitive care
  • Ensure that optimum care is provided

Continuing Medical Education:
The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

The American College of Surgeons designates this educational activity for a maximum of 19 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.  Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that s/he actually spent in the educational activity.

Approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for up to 19 hours of ACEP category 1 credit.
 
Registration Deadline:
Applications are presently being accepted. Registration must be submitted 30 days prior to course date. All registration closes 30 days prior to the course date, to allow time for shipping of pre-course materials and preparation. 
Enrollment is limited to 16 students, including 4 Advanced Practice Providers.  A $25.00 non-refundable fee is applied to all applicants registering to attend the ATLS® course.  
Registration will be on a first  come first served basis and is not complete until payment has been received.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:
Cancellations will be accepted up to 60 days prior to the course date with a full refund minus the administration fee and cost of the course materials.  If manuals are returned unopened, that cost will also be refunded.   
NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY APPLICANT WISHING TO WITHDRAW WITHIN 60 BUSINESS DAYS OF THE COURSE DATE, THIS INCLUDES NO SHOWS.
The course may be cancelled if less than 10 applications have been received 4 weeks prior to the course.  If cancellation occurs a full refund will be given with first priority in enrollment in the next course.
