My Passion for Healthcare

Medicine is fascinating because it is always changing, we are always learning more. That's why it's so important to always keep up with what is new. But even better are the patients that I meet and get to know - each person is different and many are so interesting. The nervous system is especially fascinating, The brain really is sort of like Star Trek ("the final frontier") - it's so cool.

My Clinical Focus

My areas of expertise are the peripheral nerves and muscles, the nerves coming from the spine going down the arms and legs and then the muscles themselves and the neuromuscular junction (neuromuscular medicine). The testing for that is with EMG. I love figuring out the puzzle - what's wrong and how can we fix it? I did a fellowship in EMG, and took my last board exam only a few years ago in neuromuscular medicine. I have been focused on this for almost 25 years. I like to teach and often have residents with me.
