My Passion for Healthcare

I never imagined myself being a psychiatrist when I first entered medical school. My attraction to medicine revolved around my interest in the healing dynamics of human interaction and the marvels of scientific advancement designed to mitigate human suffering. When I began clinical rotations. it became clear that my skills and interests merged most harmoniously in the care of psychiatric patients. I have enjoyed many long-term, meaningful therapeutic relationships and believe it to be one of the greatest privileges one can enjoy.

My Clinical Focus

I mostly focus on general adult psychiatric care. I see my own patients and supervise trainees in their clinical work in the office setting. I do specialize in the management of treatment-resistant mood disorders and perform a procedure called electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which is the most effective antidepressant treatment in all of medicine. I also serve as a consultant for the Seton Brain and Spine Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and collaborate with Dr. Buchanan (SBSI Neurosurgery) in a growing psychiatric neurosurgery program.
