My Passion for Healthcare

I have always had an interest in applied sciences and study of the humanities. As a graduating English major I found myself heading to medicine as a way to follow both passions. It became clear in the early years of training that psychiatry was the best fit for me and would allow me to use what we know about physiology and pharmacology to alleviate suffering. My focus is the care of people with cancer and those close to them. My goal is to help maximize quality of life throughout treatment and beyond.

My Clinical Focus

I started working exclusively in a cancer setting in 2010 and found it to be an area with great unmet need and rewarding work. I see patients in and out of the hospital and like to collaborate with their oncologists, physical therapists, nutritionists, other medical team members and families to create a comprehensive care plan. Cancer and its treatment can have a wide range of emotional, social, and physiologic consequences. Talk therapy and medications can help minimize distress and debility so that people living through or after treatment can maintain the best quality of life possible.
