Andy Davis joined Ascension Texas as Chief Operating Officer in November 2017 after serving as Chief Operating Officer at St. Vincent’s Health System at Ascension Birmingham. He has an extensive background as a healthcare executive, which includes acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care and physician practices.
Before joining Ascension Birmingham, Andy worked in Mobile, Alabama, as administrative director for Infirmary Health. In 2006, he returned to Birmingham, Alabama, and accepted the position at St. Vincent’s Health System to serve as vice president of physician recruitment and relations. Four years later, he became President and COO for St. Vincent’s Birmingham hospital, leading high-performance teams and establishing strong physician partnerships. His remarkable leadership landed him as one of Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40.
Andy has played a huge role in his community. In Alabama he served on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Hospital Advisory as committee chair, the Alabama Hospital Association Governing Board, and the Birmingham Chapter of Kiwanis. His previous community roles include Central Alabama March of Dimes Board Chairman and board member for Girls, Inc.
Andy is a graduate of the Ascension Executive Ministry Leadership formation program and is currently in the Ascension Leadership Academy Cohort 3 Residential 5 Session. He also is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management of Information Systems. He has a master’s degree in business administration, and another in healthcare administration. Andy and his wife, Dawn, have three children: Hannah, Jackson, and Lilly.
