Prior to joining Ascension Seton, Ray was senior director for strategic business and relationship development at Ascension Health. He helped identify growth opportunities and develop strategic plans, with a focus on creating value-based health care delivery programs and clinically integrated systems of care.

Ray is tasked with advancing Ascension Seton’s population health management and value-based health care initiatives; guiding the establishment of long-term goals, annual targets and interim milestones for the organization; and ensuring that Ascension Seton’s strategy aligns with that of Ascension and Ascension Strategic Priorities.

Ray joined Ascension Health in 2009 from PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) Health Industries Advisory Practice, where he led cross-functional teams in providing strategic and business planning and operational implementation services to commercial, non-profit, and government health care clients. He served academic medical centers and integrated health systems with the development of system-wide strategic plans, with an emphasis on prioritized program development, cross-mission integration and physician alignment. Anderson served as in-country project manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Grand Duchy of Luxembourg health care engagement teams, managing the strategic planning and implementation efforts for the creation of a National BioBank and two scientific projects as part of a $220 million economic development initiative in the fields of molecular diagnostics and personalized medicine.

Ray holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary in Virginia; a PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Virginia; and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
