Dr. Kari Wolf has led the psychiatry educational programs in Austin since 2004. Under her leadership, Austin dramatically increased the size of the psychiatry residency programs, began a new fellowship in psychosomatic medicine, and partnered to expand educational programs for psychologists, psychopharmacologists and medical students. She has also partnered with UT Austin, UTSW, UTMB and Texas A&M to expand educational programs for psychologists, psychopharmacologists and medical students.
She also serves as the President of the Seton Mind Institute, the largest group of psychiatrists in the region. She is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at the UT Austin Dell Medical School, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Medical Branch and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Texas A&M.
Prior to joining the Seton Healthcare Family, Dr. Wolf was the assistant medical director for the University of Iowa Behavioral Health Initiative and associate residency training director for their l Psychiatry Residency Program. During her tenure at The University of Iowa, Dr. Wolf was also the representative for the Integrated Behavioral Health Network – a community-based partnership of multiple medical entities and the largest insurance provider in the state.
Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Wolf brings her extensive clinical expertise, especially in the areas of eating disorders and chronically mentally ill, and her administrative and educational skills to the Seton Healthcare Family. Dr. Wolf earned her medical degree from the University Of Iowa Carver College Of Medicine. She completed her residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she was chief resident and received numerous awards, including Resident of the Year twice.
Dr. Wolf currently serves on a number of community-based committees. She is also a frequent guest lecturer on a variety of psychiatric and behavioral health subjects.
