  1. What is the residency stipend?
    The current residency stipend (2007-2008 is $38,000)
  2. How much vacation do you get? Can you take it all at bronce?
    As a full-time Seton employee, the resident accumulates paid time off (PTO) each month.  During each 2 week pay period, the resident accumulates approximately 6.8 hours PTO.  We discourage taking your vacation all at once as that may detract from your training experience, however, all attempts will be made to honor vacation requests.
  3. Is there support for attending the ASHP mid-year meeting?
    Yes, the resident is given financial support towards their expenses to attend the ASHP Midyear meeting and administrative leave is given to the resident to attend.
  4. Is there reimbursement for relocating to Texas from out-of-state?
    Yes. You may be reimbursed up to $1,500.00 for relocation expenses. Reimbursement is processed after 30 days of employment upon submission of itemized receipts. If you do not complete the residency program, the amount reimbursed will be subtracted from your final paycheck.
  5. What are the staffing requirements?
    The staffing requirements is 1 evening shift (4 hours) and 2 weekend shifts (each 12 hours) per month (approximately 28 hours per month).
  6. Do you have to work holidays, if so, how many?
    The resident is scheduled to work one holiday during the residency year.
  7. Description of health benefits?
    As a full-time employee, residents receive medical and dental coverage. Employees may choose between medical and dental options for self and dependents. See Benefits Summary for additional information.
  8. What are your elective rotations? How many electives can I take?
    Elective rotations have been developed in the areas of advanced Pediatrics, Cardiology, Nephrology, Pain Management, Psychiatry and Oncology. Additional elective rotations may be developed depending on the resident's interest areas. The resident is allowed to take three elective rotations.
  9. Does the resident get exposure to teaching pharmacy students?
    Yes, the resident receives an academic appointment from the University of Texas at Austin as a "Clinical Instructor." The resident helps precept PharmD rotational students and participates as a lab instructor in a pharmacotherapy course at the college.
  10. When is the application due?
    January 9, 2009. All application materials must be received by this date for consideration for an on-site interview.
  11. What do I need to submit for consideration for an on-site interview?

    • Three letters of recommendation
  12. Is there a Seton employment application to fill out?
    Once residents have been selected by the ASHP Resident Matching Program, they will need to fill out a Seton employment application (may be completed online at www.seton.net by applying for the PGY 1 residency position)
