Brief Explanation of Programs
Resident Program: This program is a full-time annual program that runs from September through August. Residents will earn four (4) units of CPE while in the program. Four units of CPE are required if someone wants to apply for certification as a Chaplain. While we do not certify, we do provide the CPE education necessary to apply for board certification. You do not need to be a Chaplain or pursuing Chaplaincy to enroll in this program. A prior unit of CPE, previous ministry experience, and a Master’s Degree in Theological Education is preferred, but not required. Applications are due the first week of March with interviews later that month. See program flyer for additional details.
Intern Program: This program is a full-time, summer program for seminarians that runs from June through August. Interns will earn one (1) unit of CPE while in the program. Applications are due the 3rd week in November with interviews in December. See program flyer for additional details.
Extended Program: This program is a part-time, six-month program that runs from the first week in October through the first week of April. Seminarians will be accepted for this program which provides 150 hours credit for outside ministry plus 150 hours credit for on-call coverage within the Seton Family of Hospitals. Applications are due the first week of June with interviews during the summer. See program flyer for additional details.
