Dr. Jason Shen is an epileptologist who will guide you through the whole process. He is a board certified neurologist with subspecialty training in epilepsy care. He will arrange all the pre-surgical evaluations and work with other specialists to determine whether epilepsy surgery is right for you.
Dr. Hari Tumu is a neurosurgeon who will perform the surgery to remove the seizure focus. If it is necessary to do invasive monitoring or brain mapping, Dr. Tumu will perform craniotomy (open skull surgery). Prior to epilepsy surgery, Dr. Tumu will see the patient in his clinic to go over the details and possible risks of the surgery.
Karen McCarthy is an advance practice nurse who is designated to practice in the epilepsy center. She works with Dr. Shen to see patients in the clinic and coordinate care provided by the epilepsy center.
Dr. David Tucker is a neuropsychologist who will perform the full battery of evaluation to assess multiple spheres of the cognition, including but not limited to memory and language functions. He will also perform the WADA test along with a interventional radiologist and Dr. Shen.
