Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program

2010 Recruitment Season

Thank you for your interest in the UT Southwestern Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seton Family of Hospitals. The information provided here is intended to provide assistance in filling out the application for a position in our program. We will screen your application as soon as it is complete. The decision regarding interviews will be made and, if chosen, you will be asked to visit our exciting program and wonderful city.

Please DO NOT call to inquire about the status of your completed application during this time.

To be considered for an interview, applicants must:

  • Have passed USMLE parts 1, 2, & 3 within 2 attempts each prior to beginning the program (Step 3 results may be pending at time of interview but must be passed by time of match list completion).
  • Be registered with NRMP. Positions will not be offered outside the Match. 
  • Be ECFMG certified (valid indefinitely) if not graduate of American allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder). Our program does not sponsor visas.
  • Have completed at least one year of general psychiatry residency (in addition to internship year) prior to beginning the program (consideration may be made for exceptional applicants applying after completing internship year only)
  • Have submitted a completed application and all accompanying materials

Interview season is September 16, 2011 - November 11, 2011. We interview on Fridays so if you wish you may stay and visit the city during the weekend. Interviews may be scheduled outside the season or on alternate days in extraordinary circumstances however no interviews will be scheduled after December 2, 2011.

For information regarding becoming a physician in training in the State of Texas, please visit the Texas Medical Board website: http://www.tmb.state.tx.us. IMGs/FMGs: please take note of the list of Schools Whose Graduates Do Not Have to Prove Substantial Equivalence of Their Education (located under Physician Applicants). If your medical school is not listed, you will not be invited for an interview and may find it difficult to obtain a training permit in Texas. The list is subject to change at any time.
