Obstetric Training

Obstetric fellows see pregnant patients in an outpatient setting with an emphasis on complicated high-risk patients and appropriate management and referral of these patients. A faculty obstetrician also attends these clinics and provides supervision and consultation. The fellow will also see uncomplicated patients in the health department clinic system and at the Family Health Center, where he/she will also supervise Family Practice residents.

Inpatient obstetric experience will include antepartum and intrapartum patients. Experience in operative vaginal deliveries, Caesarian sections, and tubal sterilizations will be gained. In-house faculty supervision and backup will be available on a 24-hour daily basis. Training in basic ultrasound is also provided.

The fellow will also participate in the Gynecology clinics, where he/she will evaluate and treat patients with basic gynecologic problems. Training in colposocpy is included.
