When doctors want to know whats going on in your digestive system without having to do surgery, they introduce tiny cameras into the body which are attached to slender, flexible wire. By doing so they are able to diagnose problems in a non-invasive way. Some of the procedures we do at Seton are ultra-sound, endoscopy and colonoscopy, to diagnose problems with the digestive tract, and bronchoscopy to diagnose problems in the lungs and trachea. Seton Medical Center is now using narrow banding image technology by Olympus. This revolutionary new equipment uses a special light to reveal unusual or suspicious tissue at a much earlier stage. Seton Medical Center is the only hospital in Austin to use this equipment.
