You will be required to fill out paperwork that asks for your address, phone number, and breast health history, where you had your last mammogram, and your doctor’s name, address, and phone number.
- Please note: some insurance companies will not pay for a mammogram if it is sooner than twelve months since your last mammogram.
- You will possibly pay a copayment (cash or check only).
- You will receive a briefing on breast cancer risk factors, self breast exam and breast cancer screening guidelines for your age.
- All screening mammograms are completed by an Austin Radiological Association certified mammography technician.
- On average, this appointment takes about 30 minutes.
It is important that we have the information from your last mammogram to do a comparison. If your last mammogram was performed elsewhere, please inform the radiologist where it was performed. If you’re uncertain, call your doctor’s offfice and they should have a copy of your last report.
What information to expect after your mammogram appointment.
- A mammogram report will be mailed to you within 30 days of the screening.
- A nurse from this program will notify you sooner if follow-up is indicated or your film needs to be repeated for operational reasons.
- If follow-up or a repeat mammogram is indicated, it is your responsibility to complete what has been recommended. Your mammogram screening is not complete until all recommended follow-up has been completed. Please call your physician’s office if you have any questions about your report. The Seton cancer screening nurses can help facilitate this process.
- Please save the report you receive so that you may tell other healthcare providers where you had your last mammogram. It is very important that you know where your last mammogram has been completed.
