The Shivers Cancer Program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons and uses a highly specialized team approach in treating all aspects of the disease. Five cancer conferences are held each month wherein doctors review cases with one another to share the most current knowledge and information and gain important insights into cancer treatment. Not only are we are dedicated to treating our patients effectively and compassionately, we are also dedicated to eradicating this disease in the shortest possible time. Our robust research programs and wide array of clinical trials insure that the most innovative and effective protocols are always available, and our patients continually benefit from an ongoing exchange of information within the Seton Family of Hospitals.

Early cancer detection can save your life.. So in addition to the complete diagnostic facilities throughout the Seton Family of Hospitals, we offer a mobile screening program that visits businesses, offices and corporations to perform screenings to employees.

The goals of the Seton Cancer Programs include:

  • Creating a specialized center of excellence, providing state-of-the-art, comprehensive medical care for the diagnosis, treatment, support, education and research related to adult and pediatric cancer across the Network.
  • Serving the cancer patients of the Central Texas region with the latest innovative therapies for treatment, while a dedicated team of professionals provide personal, nurturing care to meet the medical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical needs of our patients families.
  • Reaching out to the community, especially underserved populations, with effective and innovative community education and screening programs.
  • Building an effective and integrated continuum of care through a partnership of physicians, staff, patients and families and the community.
First in Texas to Earn Program Approval
The Seton Family of Hospitals has earned approval as a Network Cancer Program from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, passing its rigorous inspection and evaluation process. Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1932, the Approvals Program sets standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to make sure they conform to those standards. Seton became the first cancer program in the state and the seventh in the nation to receive network approval.
