Security is available to assist you with concerns such as theft, suspicious people or activities, escorts to your vehicle, or to help you locate your vehicle in the parking garage. Security is available 24 hours a day at ext. 55555 through any house phone or 324-3991 from outside the hospital.

Seton Cove
Seton Cove is an interfaith center for spiritual formation and renewal, with a focus on spirituality in the workplace. Inspired by the life and teachings of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, this center provides a welcoming place of solace and hospitality where people of any faith may nourish and foster their spiritual growth and discover a new relationship with themselves. Programs include luncheon reflections, individual and group direction, seminars and workshops, meditation groups, and day retreats, and are designed to act as an extension of activities provided by individual churches throughout Austin. Call 451-0272 for more information.

Ethics Consultation
Consultations for ethical problems related to healthcare are available for patients, families or legal representatives. In general, an ethical problem may exist when the right thing to do is not clear or when people disagree about what is appropriate. For further information or assistance, contact your nurse or dial 0 for the hospital operator and ask for a Chaplain or Patient Representative.

Chaplain Services
Chaplain Services may assist you with the completion of Advance Directives. They can be reached by dialing 41480 from a patient’s telephone. Of course, your own clergyman is always welcome.

The hospital chapel is located on the 1st floor and is available to all regardless of church affiliation. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Mass is offered Monday-Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. The daily mass is televised on channel 10.

Patient Representative
The Patient Representative facilitates the flow of services and promotes communication between patients, families, physicians and hospital staff. Assistance is provided to patient/families seeking solutions to hospital-related questions, concerns and problems. Questions will be answered, comments and suggestions listened to, and hospital policies and procedures explained. The Patient Representative is happy to assist patients and families with Advance Directive information as well. The Patient Representative can be reached from any hospital telephone by dialing extension 41122 or via the operator.

Social Workers
Social Workers are available to help you and your family deal with stress and anxiety that illness may create and will help you with any problems that may arise during your hospitalization. Social Workers provide counseling, help you obtain benefits and needed services, and work with you in planning for your care following discharge from the hospital.

Questions/Concerns/Complaints/Grievances
The staff at Seton Medical Center Austin is dedicated to the delivery of quality health care and patient satisfaction. However, we recognize that some concerns may arise. We ask that your first try to resolve the concern with the person involved if you are comfortable doing so. If there is no satisfactory resolution, you may contact the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager or Department Director, or call the Patient Representative at extension 41122.

Interpreters
Interpreters are available upon request 24 hours a day to translate foreign languages for our patients. Your nurse can arrange for an interpreter to assist you in communication with your healthcare team.

For the Hearing Impaired
Communication is essential to good health care, and we encourage you to make your particular needs known. TDD services may be arranged through the hospital operator by dialing 0. Ask your nurse to arrange for the assistance of a sign language interpreter if needed.
