Visiting Hours

Visitors are welcome between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.  Patients may designate a family member or friend to stay at all times.  Some special nursing areas such as the Adult and Neonatal Intensive Care Units and Maternity have specific policies concerning visitors.  Please contact the individual nursing unit to verify visiting times and for additional information.

Information Desk

The information desk may be reached by dialing ext. 54704 within the hospital, or outside the hospital by calling (512) 504-5000 Ext. 54704.   The desk is located on the first floor at the main entrance.  It is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., primarily by helpful volunteers who can assist with questions about our services and directions around the hospital.

    Breakfast – 6:30  - 10:00 a.m.
    Lunch – 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    Dinner – 3:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

    Breakfast – 6:30  - 10:00 a.m.
    Lunch – 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

    Saturday & Sunday
    Breakfast – 7:00  - 10:00 a.m. 
    Lunch  – 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Vending Machines are located in the outside hall next to the cafeteria dining room.

    A guest tray may be ordered through room service by calling (512) 504-5185 from outside the hospital, or by dialing 45185 from within the hospital. The cost is $7.50. Payment must be made via credit card at the time the order is placed.  Meals may be purchased using other methods of payment during dining room hours.  Guest meals will be delivered to the room within 45 minutes of placing the order.

Gift Shop

The Great Habits gift shop is located on the first floor, near the main entrance.  The proceeds from the gift shop are donated back to the hospital through the Volunteer Auxiliary to assist the needs of our patients.  Cash and credit cards are accepted.

Internet Access

Seton Medical Center Hays offers free wireless access.  Patients and other guests can use their personal laptops, PDA’s or other handheld devices to connect to the Seton Family Access Network and then easily navigate to their favorite websites or e-mail accounts.  Wireless instruction cards are available throughout the hospital.  Learn more.

Telephone Calls

To reach a patient at Seton Medical Center Hays, dial (512) 504-5000 to reach the operator, who will connect you with the patient. If you know the room number, you can dial it directly. The three-digit room number makes up the last three numbers of the phone number proceeded by 5045.  For example, to call room #100, simply dial 504-5100.

Courtesy and pay phones are located throughout the hospital for your convenience. To place an outside call from inside the hospital, dial "9" and then the number. To call within the hospital, simply dial the 5-digit extension (the last five numbers of the hospital phone number).  To reach the hospital operator, dial "0". To place a long-distance call, dial "9", "0 "and the number. The operator will come on the line and connect you with your chosen long distance provider. International calls must go through the hospital operator.  All long distance calls must be charged on your credit card or placed collect.

  • Smoke-Free Campus
    Seton Medical Center Hays is a smoke-free campus, extending to not just the inside of the hospital but all surrounding, adjacent grounds and parking areas at this site.
  • Cell Phones
    Cell phone use may interfere with the performance of advanced medical equipment, Seton prohibits the use of cell phones in the following critical care areas:  Emergency Department, Surgery, Intensive Care Unit/IMC, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Endo, and Cath Lab.
