- Complete cardiac care that includes two 24 hour/day Invasive Cardiac Catheterization labs, emergent cardiac surgery and cardiac rehab programs

From risk assessment and diagnosis to rehabilitation and ongoing management, Seton Medical Center Hays offers the expertise and technology to care for a variety of cardiovascular problems, including open heart surgery. Seton Medical Center Hays has received full accreditation as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. This accreditation affirms that Seton Medical Center Hays demonstrates expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria in treatment of cardiac patients. In addition to this accreditation, Seton Hays has received the American College of Cardiology Foundation's Action Registry - GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award. This award granted by the National Cardiovascular Data Registry recognizes a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Seton Hays has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Cardiac Rehabilitation is responsible for providing early mobilization, monitoring and education (phase 1) to inpatients recovering from a recent cardiac event or revascularization procedure. We also provide continued care through the outpatient (phase 2) program for up to 12 weeks. Our Mission is to return our cardiac patients to an optimum functional level thus reducing risk for secondary cardiac events and improving their quality of life through exercise, training and education.
- Cardiac Diagnostics
Our cardiac diagnostic services consist of Heart Catheterizations Diagnostic and Interventional, Electrophysiology Diagnostic and Interventional, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. We are equipped with Philips advanced bi-plane imaging suites with the ability to perform 3-D reconstruction.
Cardiopulmonary & Neurodiagnostics
The services offer Respiratory Therapy, Echocardiograms, Stress Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing, EKG, EEGs and sleep lab studies.
- Respiratory Care – provides for the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and/or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. We care for patients in all areas including NICU, L/D, ED, ICU and Acute Care
- Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics (CPDX) – provides for the diagnostic evaluation of care of patients limited to deficiencies and/or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, and management of factors contributing to those deficiencies and/or abnormalities.
- Neurodiagnostics – provides for the diagnostic evaluation and care of patients limited to deficiencies and/or abnormalities within the brain and nervous system and to a certain extent the cardiopulmonary system.
Critical Care / ICU
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides intensive care to critically ill patients including those recovering from complex surgeries. The unit is equipped with leading edge monitoring technology and staffed around the clock with experienced nurses and Board Certified physicians in Internal Medicine who also provide consultation to admitting physicians.
Common endoscopic procedures include EGD (esophagus, stomach and duodenum), Colonoscopy (colon), Bronchoscopy (lungs), and ERCP where we can remove gallstones in a non-surgical manner or diagnose cancers and other disorders related to the liver and pancreas.
Our services include colon cancer screening and caring for people with life threatening gastrointestinal disorders.
Seton Medical Center Hays Imaging Department provides a broad spectrum of diagnostic Imaging Services for Inpatient, outpatient and emergency patients of all ages ranging from newborn to geriatric. Services offered include:
- CT (64 slice)
- Diagnostic X-ray (Swissray Digital Radiology)
- Digital Mammography
- MRI (1.5 Tesla)
- Nuclear Medicine.
A team of highly trained and licensed Technologists and Board Certified Radiologists are dedicated to providing clients with high quality imaging exams in a caring, comfortable and convenient environment.
Our team of medical experts is equipped to provide patients with comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of cancerous and non-cancerous lung disease. Our interventional pulmonology program is supported by onsite, state-of-the-art electromagnetic navigation brochoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound technologies. Our superDimension® system is able to locate, biopsy and prepare to treat a lesion in the lung. This minimally invasive, superD technique is especially beneficial to patients with hard-to-reach lesions.
Our program not only offers less invasive lung and lymph node biopsies but also may benefit those patients with noncancerous conditions, such as:

Seton Medical Center Hays Laboratory is at the forefront of testing to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and management of disease.
- Transfusion Services
Our 100-bed inpatient unit is designed to provide care to adults and non-complex pediatric patients. It is equipped with state-of-the-art nursing technology and safety equipment to protect our patients and our staff. Our services include the provision of nursing care to patients recovering from surgical procedures or being treated for acute medical conditions. The unit is supported by Medical Hospitalists who enable clinically coordinated care with exceptional outcomes.
Minimally Invasive Surgery Center
Seton Medical Center Hays offers minimally invasive surgery for many surgical procedures. Minimally invasive surgery means significantly less pain, fewer side effects, less scarring, a shorter recovery period, and a faster return to normal activities than traditional or “open” surgery.
We partner with the Hilltop Center for Cancer Care, which is located next door in the Seton Hays Medical Building, to provide patient with daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, as well as digital mammograms. Our physicians use the same intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) technology that is found at the nation's most renowned cancer treatment centers. IMRT hits the cancer cells hard while still being gentler than ever to nearby healthy tissues and often means better outcomes for patients. Our cancer care program also includes a tumor board that can recommend an optimal treatment plan for patients.
Outpatient Infusion Center
We offer a wide variety of services through our outpatient infusion center. Services include:
- Blood product transfusions
- Catheter management and dressing changes
- Electrolyte therapy
- Hydration therapy

- Inpatient Therapists focus on early mobility and other interventions for the prevention of complications and the facilitation of a safe discharge.
Our sleep lab offers two bedrooms, each decorated to resemble a home environment, as well as wheelchair accessible private bathrooms. We use advanced monitoring equipment and software to record data while patients sleep. Then our qualified team can pinpoint the disorder, allowing your physician to prescribe therapy.
The Seton Medical Center Hays has four surgical suites outfitted with state-of-the-art equipments and the capacity to expand to eight suites in the future. Services include:

Every feature of the Women’s Center has been designed to deliver a comforting and caring experience. Our specialized Women’s Services include maternity, a Level II neonatal nursery, minimally invasive gynecological surgery, and preventive mammograms.
The Seton Medical Center Hays Case Management team includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Masters and Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Case Management Assistants. Services include:
- Admission assessment and planning for your discharge
- Coordination of care throughout your stay with your heath care team
- Offering assistance and resources for emotional, social and spiritual support
- Community referrals
- Crisis support and intervention

Patient Business Services
Seton Medical Center Hays Business Services assist patients to assure that accurate patient demographics are obtained for all patients receiving services so that correct claims and billing can be generated. We also serve the community by assisting those uninsured or underinsured with financial resources and/or community programs.
Patient representatives facilitate the flow of services and promote communication between patients, families, physicians and hospital staff. They provide assistance to patient/families seeking solutions to hospital-related questions, concerns and problems. They also educate patient/families on hospital policies and procedures. Seton Medical Center Hays Pharmacy Services provides and monitors drug therapy in patients and serves all members of the healthcare team as experts on drug information, education, and medical research.
The outpatient pharmacy is located on the first floor. It is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Prescriptions received at discharge can be filled, and we accept Seton Health Plan, Medicaid, MAP, CHIP, Kidney Health Care, STAR and CDIC. Please inquire if Seton is a provider member of your insurance plan. If you pay for your prescription, our receipt is valid for claim processing to your insurance company. Chaplain Services and Chapel
Chaplains are available Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for visitation, prayer, spiritual and emotional support, sacramental ministry, assistance with advanced directives, ethics clarification and support. Chaplains can be reached at (512) 504-5130. You may also make a request for a visit through our network Chaplain Services’ office at (512) 324-1480. On-call Chaplains provide evening, night, and weekend coverage and can be reached by calling the hospital operator. Of course, a representative from your faith community is always welcome to visit you in the hospital upon your request.
The chapel and Interfaith Meditation Room are located on the first floor and are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. A weekly mass is offered every Tuesday at 12 p.m. For information regarding Roman Catholic Mass and other worship services, please contact the Chaplain office at (512) 504-5130.
Consultations for ethical problems related to healthcare are available for each patient, their family or legal representative. In general, an ethical problem may exist when the right thing to do is not clear or when people disagree about what is appropriate. For the Hearing Impaired
Communication is essential to good healthcare, and we encourage you to make your particular needs known. TDD services may be arranged through the hospital operator by dialing 0. Ask your nurse to arrange for the assistance of a sign language interpreter if needed.
Interpreters are available upon request 24 hours a day to translate foreign languages for our patients. Your nurse can arrange for an interpreter to assist you in communication with your healthcare team.
Seton Cove is an interfaith center located in Central Austin for spiritual formation and renewal, with a focus on spirituality in the workplace. Inspired by the life and teachings of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, this center provides a welcoming place of solace and hospitality where people of any faith may nourish and foster their spiritual growth and self-discovery.
