Seton Northwest Hospital provides a safe and caring environment with a staff trained to help women stay healthy. Our specialized Women’s Services include maternity, a Level II neonatal nursery, minimally invasive gynecological surgery, preventive mammograms and more.
At Seton Northwest, our Maternity Unit combines superior care with plenty of personal attention for both mother and baby. Our recently expanded wing includes eight new postpartum rooms – for a total of 16 – and an additional Cesarean surgical suite. For newborns in need of a little extra help, we’ve also doubled the size of our Level II special care nursery. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, dedicated to the care of newborns, provide round-the-clock care. For a sneak peek, take our maternity virtual tour.
Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery
Seton Northwest offers minimally invasive options for almost every gynecological condition, including hysterectomy, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain. Our expert group of independent physicians performs advanced laparoscopic procedures for the treatment of these conditions in the high-quality care environment of Seton Northwest.
From preventive screening mammograms to diagnostic ultrasounds, we have all the tools necessary to locate and identify breast irregularities. We are Austin’s only provider of upright stereotactic breast biopsies, which means no anesthesia or recovery from surgery.
The new MRI at Seton Northwest will also significantly enhance breast health services. The MRI is complemented with a breast coil for breast MRI exams and MRI-guided breast biopsies. In 2007, the American Cancer Society released a new guideline stating that certain women with an especially high risk of developing breast cancer should get MRI scans along with yearly mammograms. Together, the two tests give doctors a better chance of detecting breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and the chance of survival is greatest.
