Medical & Surgical Simulation Labs

  • The Clinical Education Center at Brackenridge has four fully operational high fidelity simulation labs to support interdisciplinary team training.
  • The simulation labs are configured as a labor and delivery room, operating room/catherization lab and an emergency room and intensive care unit.
  • Each room is equipped with KB Port's audiovisual digital recording systems and high-fidelity interactive mannequins that provide learners with a safe, error-forgiving environment to practice interdisciplinary team approaches to patient care.
  • During full-scale team-based simulations, instructors observe and coordinate faculty and actors through wireless intercoms, as well as odify the simulation in progress and provide real-time communication with the mannequin and participants.

Skills Labs

  • The Clinical Education Center's four 10-bed Skills Labs provide opportunities for learners to train in a real life, fully-functioning hospital setting.
  • These labs are equipped with a variety of mannequins capable of pre-programmed physiological changes related to the learner's interventions.

This environment allows the learner to attain skill proficiency, enhance critical decision-making skills, participate in scenario-based activities, as well as improve teamwork and communication skills.
