Visiting Hours

General hospital visiting hours are from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm, although visiting hours may vary throughout the hospital. The Care Team and/or Security may need to modify visiting hours to ensure full care of each patient. Please call the individual nursing units for specific information. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Intensive Care visiting hours are: 10-11 a.m., 1-1:30 p.m., 3-3:30 p.m., 5-6 p.m.,and 9-9:30 p.m.

Guest Accommodations

League House

The Seton League House is a bed-and-bath facility near Seton Medical Center, providing families a nearby place to stay while loved ones are hospitalized. The League House offers overnight accommodations at reduced rates. Since the numbers of rooms are limited, priority is given to families of critically ill patients at network facilities, outpatients from SETON facilities, and then families from other Austin hospitals. A limited number of rooms may be available for persons having early morning medical exams or day surgery.

To register, please call (512) 324-1999, between 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. There is no registration after 6 p.m. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. For a 2-person accommodation a room is $35 for the 1st night stay and $30 for every night thereafter. For 1 person a room is $30 for the 1st night stay and $25 for every night thereafter. You may contact the Seton League House up to one month in advance to place your name on the waiting list, or to make arrangements for a late arrival. You should call the day before arrival to check on room availability. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed, and please no pets.

Upon arrival please check in at the office on the ground floor. Check out time is Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Or you may drop your keys and payment in the drop box if the office is closed. Information Desks

Brackenridge has two Information Desks to serve you. The first floor desk, located by the main entrance, is manned Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - Noon. The second floor Information Desk is located in the second floor lobby and is attended 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Dining

Dining

The Brackenridge Cafeteria is located on the first floor near the West entrance and is open from 6:30 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. Breakfast is served from 6:30 - 10:30 a.m.; lunch is from 11 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. Vending machines are located at the cafeteria and in the Emergency room and are available 24 hours a day for your convenience.

Telephone Calls

To reach a patient at University Medical Center at Brackenridge, dial 512-324-7000 to reach the operator, who can give you the room number. If you know the room number, you can dial it directly. The three-digit room number makes up the last three numbers of the phone number. For example, to call room #100, simply dial (512) 324-7100.

Courtesy and pay phones are located throughout the hospital for your convenience. To place an outside call from inside the hospital, dial 9 and then the number. To call within the hospital, simply dial the last four digits: 47100. To reach the hospital operator, dial 0. To place a long-distance call, dial 9, 0 and the number. The operator will come on the line and connect you with your chosen long distance provider. International calls must go through the hospital operator.

Gift Shops

The University Medical Center at Brackenridge Auxiliary operates Great Habits, a gift shop benefiting the hospital. Located on the second floor next to the lobby, Great Habits offers many unique gifts and everyday items for patients and visitors alike. Items can be ordered and delivered to a patient's room by calling(512) 324-7000, ext. 72680. They carry snack food, flowers and books and magazines, as well as infant-ware and gifts. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, noon - 5:00 p.m.
