University Medical Center at Brackenridge is the lead trauma facility for the 11-county Trauma Service Area "O". We are proud to present the tenth annual Regional Trauma Conference. These lectures are designed for those dedicated professionals who care for the trauma patient. This extraordinary faculty has been chosen for their commitment to trauma care. Their choice of topics reflects this commitment and the importance of a team approach within our trauma system.
LOCATION
The Regional Trauma Conference will be held in the Big Tex Auditorium at The Commons Center. The Commons Center complex is located on the University of Texas J.J. Pickle Research Campus / 10100 Burnet Road, adjacent to the intersection of MoPac and Braker Lane.

FACULTY
Carlos VR Brown, MD, is a trauma surgeon and the Medical Director of Trauma Services at University Medical Center at Brackenridge. He is actively involved in continuing education, process improvement and research involving the trauma patient.
Ruth Kohlmeier, MD, is Board Certified in Forensic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology. Currently, she is in private practice but prior to that, she had been a Medical Examiner in Phoenix, Arizona and Austin, Texas.
Thomas B. Coopwood, MD, is a trauma surgeon and past medical director of the trauma program at University Medical Center at Brackenridge and is currently the Program Director for AMEP Surgery Education.
Ed Racht, MD, is the Medical Director for the City of Austin / Travis County Emergency Medical Services; Chairperson for the Governor's Advisory Council for EMS and Trauma (GETAC).
R.Todd Maxson, MD, is a pediatric surgeon who is recognized as a national leader in the field of pediatric trauma care. He is the medical director for the Children's Hospital of Austin Trauma Services and serves on the GETAC as well as on the Texas Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council.
Amy Baker is a professional speaker and author of two books. She worked outside the home for over 20 years in the communications and human resources professions. She left the corporate world to pursue her speaking and writing career, and her first two books were published in 2005.
