Bio

Michael Watkins, M.D., is a board certified cardiologist and practices with Austin Cardiovascular Associates. This multi-physician group provides experience in a broad array of cardiology techniques including medicine, life style modification and leading-edge interventional procedures. The physicians work in partnership with each patient to choose the best plan to meet the patient's medical needs as well as emotional and social needs.

Dr. Watkins is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Medical Association, and the American Heart Association. He attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston followed by an internship and chief residency in internal medicine. Dr. Watkins fellowed at the University of California at Irvine. He has specific interests in consultative cardiology, all aspects of non-invasive and invasive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging -- including treadmill exercise testing, stress echo cardiology, pharmacologic stress testing, cardiac catherization, angioplasty, critical care, pacemaker implantation, and follow-up.
