Hari Tumu, M.D., obtained a B.A. in English literature at Millsaps College in 1992 and subsequently obtained his M.D. at The University of Mississippi in 1996.
Following this he completed a six year neurosurgery residency at TheOhio State University medical center, and has been in private practicein Austin since 2002.
Along with the broad range of procedures for intracranial disorders Dr.Tumu treats, he also performs surgery on all areas of the spine. Heperforms outpatient, minimally invasive lumbar diskectomies anddecompressions using METRx tubular dilator system.He covers spine trauma call at Brackenridge Hospital, and as a result iswell experienced in fusions and instrumentation of the cervical,thoracic and lumbar spine, for both traumatic and degenerativeconditions.
Dr. Tumu is also specially trained in performing epilepsy surgery, awell-established approach to treating epilepsy. Along with themulti-disciplined staff at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of theBrain and Spine Center , Dr. Tumu is involved in new approaches to evaluation and treatment.
Dr.Tumu is an active member of both the American Association ofNeurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
