Dr. Thorne is Board Certified in General Ophthalmology. After special post-residency training in San Francisco, he joined Drs. Thompson, Rock and Rylander in Austin in 1981. He is especially interested in cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, r refractive surgery, glaucoma, & laser surgery. Dr. Thorne is on staff at many local hospitals, and was a former Department Chairman at both Seton Medical Center and St. David's Hospital. Dr. Thorne received his Pre-Med at the Univ. of TX, Austin & his MD at Univ. of TX Health Science Center, San Antonio.Dr. Thorne served his internship at Univer. of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS; residency-Univ. of TX Health Science Ctr-Houston; Post Residency Fellowship-Cornea & Infectious Diseases, Proctor Foundation, Univ. of CA Med Ctr, San Francisco. He is the member of many highly regarded medical societies.
