I chose the field of OB/GYN because it combines: reproductive medicine, operative obstetrics, clinical gynecology, and gynecological surgery. I feel women's health involves integrating many aspects of medicine, sexuality, and mental health across the spectrum from the reproductive years through menopause. Feeling well is often about feeling good, and a healthy state of mind is as crucial to good health as a sound medical plan and regular examinations. I encourage patients to be proactive regarding their health. I also have interest in and support safe forms of alternative medicine.
I view my relationship with my patients as an unfolding opportunity to practice my chosen profession, act as a teacher, learn as a student, and counsel as a friend. My experiences as a volunteer in public health projects such as, Amigos de las Americas and participation with a team of surgeons working in the Third World, has made me very appreciative of the opportunity to practice high quality medicine and utilize the full range of my training and experience for my patients.
I am looking forward to living in Austin again and becoming an active and contributing member of the community.
