Dr. Sharma is a plastic surgeon specializing in hand and microsurgery and certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery/Hand. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in chemistry and biochemistry. He graduated magna cum laude in 1992 and entered medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston that same year. He has had the luxury and benefit of training at preeminent institutions with some of this country's most renowned surgeons.
The Texas Medical Center served as the backdrop for Dr. Sharma's combined general surgery and plastic surgery training at Baylor College of Medicine. The broad scope of training included extensive experience in aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction and augmentation, congenital and pediatric plastic surgery, trauma reconstruction, and hand and microsurgery. An additional one year orthopedic hand surgery fellowship at the University of Washington Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine further developed his skills as a hand surgeon. He currently serves as the Director of Hand Surgery Services at both the University Medical Center Brackenridge and Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.
Dr Sharma's areas of clinical interests include hand and wrist disorders, microsurgery and peripheral nerve surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery.
