Bio
Dr. Perurena is a board certified neurologist with additional certifications in the subspecialty of Neurology with
added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology, as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine (EMG). He completed
his residency in Internal Medicine in Buenos Aires and Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital of Chicago and the
University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently an assistant professor for the Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern and the University of Texas Medical Branch where he is responsible for rounding, supervising in clinic, Didactics, mentoring and counseling. His areas of special interests include EMG,
neuropathy, carpal tunnel, neuromuscular disorders, and radiculopathy.
Dr. Perurena has performed research in the area of Neuromuscular Diseases, and has been published in many original articles, books and medical abstracts. Throughout his many years of practice, he has continued to favor a multi-disciplinary approach to care for patients with the primary goal of improving quality of life and restoring wellness.
Dr. Perurena is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has been with Seton Brian & Spine since 2007.
