Bio
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Oswalt practiced in Waco, Graham, and Fort Worth before joining Capital Surgeons Group in Austin. In Waco, he also practiced trauma surgery.
Dr. Oswalt is experienced in addressing the full spectrum of surgical conditions. His focus includes all types of hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery, and gastric and intestinal surgery, as well as the care of breast, thyroid, and parathyroid diseases.
After earning his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Oswalt completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He earned his B.S. degree from TCU and participates in the university’s alumni community.
Active in several medical and civic organizations, Dr. Oswalt has held multiple positions at both the state and national level in the American Cancer Society, including president of the Texas Division. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the Texas Medical Association, Texas Surgical Society, Aust Surgical Society, and the Travis County Medical Society.
In 2006, Dr. Oswalt was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Medical Board, the licensing and discipline authority for Texas physicians.
Dr. Oswalt enjoys travelling to foreign countries where he hones his skills as a PADI Master scuba diver. He’s a Vietnam-era Army veteran, and his hobbies include golf and reading, as well as the rare artform of scrimshaw.
